Maharashtra Teacher Arrested After 13-Year-Old Dies Following ‘100 Sit-Ups’ Punishment
Pudvi Times – Maharashtra News Vasai, Maharashtra: A 13-year-old schoolgirl tragically died after being allegedly punished by her teacher for arriving ten minutes late to school. The teacher reportedly made the girl perform 100 sit-ups with her schoolbag on her back, according to local authorities.
Police confirmed that the accused teacher has been arrested in connection with the incident. Senior Police Inspector Dilip Ghuge said that the post-mortem examination has been completed and the report has been received.
“Based on eyewitness statements, including those of schoolteachers and other students, an FIR has been registered and the teacher has been arrested,” he told ANI.
The investigation is still in its early stages. Inspector Ghuge added that if any negligence is found on the part of the school administration, further action will be taken against them.
The incident has sparked outrage among parents and the local community, raising concerns about the methods of discipline in schools and the safety of children.
Authorities are reviewing school records and interviewing staff and students to determine the full circumstances that led to the girl’s death.
