From Marriage to Courtroom: Celina Jaitly’s ₹100 Crore Claim in Domestic Violence Case

Bollywood actor and former Miss India Celina Jaitly has intensified her legal battle against her estranged husband, Peter Haag, seeking a staggering ₹100 crore in compensation along with ₹10 lakh per month in maintenance in a domestic violence case filed in a Mumbai court.

Jaitly appeared before the metropolitan magistrate’s court in Andheri on Tuesday alongside Haag, an Austrian hotelier, where the court directed both parties to submit their income affidavits by January 27, 2026, and asked Haag to formally respond to her allegations

The petition, filed under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, alleges that Jaitly was subjected to years of abuse and maltreatment during their marriage. In addition to financial claims, the complaint accuses Haag of undermining her dignity, restricting her financial independence, and engaging in harmful conduct that affected her personal and professional life.

According to the legal plea, Jaitly claims that her husband engaged in a pattern of coercive control that left her financially dependent and emotionally distressed. The maintenance demand of ₹10 lakh per month is intended to support her lifestyle and personal expenses in light of the loss of financial autonomy she alleges during the course of the marriage.

In addition to compensation and maintenance, the ongoing proceedings also involve parallel divorce litigation in Austria, where the couple’s marital status and related custody and financial matters are also being contested.

Celina Jaitly and Peter Haag were married for around 15 years and have three children. Reports from earlier stages of the case noted that Jaitly initially sought ₹50 crore in damages for mental and emotional anguish alongside the maintenance claim, pointing to longstanding issues within the marriage.

In court filings, Jaitly has described incidents she characterizes as domestic abuse, ranging from emotional to financial mistreatment, though Haag has yet to publicly respond to these allegations.

The court’s directive for both sides to submit income details is an early procedural move that lays the groundwork for assessing maintenance and compensation claims. The next hearing is set for January 27, 2026, when the matter will move forward with additional submissions from both parties.
