GDP Growth: PM Modi Takes Dig at Rahul Gandhi, Says ‘Some People Are Spreading Lies and Despair’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the people of India after the country recorded an economic growth rate of 7.8%. In a video message shared on social media, the Prime Minister described the growth figure as a reflection of the collective strength, determination, and hard work of Indians.

PM Modi said India is continuing to move forward despite a challenging global environment. He pointed to ongoing conflicts, disruptions in global supply chains, and the instability that has continued since the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the prime minister, despite these global challenges, India is growing rapidly, and the latest GDP figure demonstrates the resilience of the country's economy.

PM Modi’s Attack on Rahul Gandhi

While celebrating the GDP growth, PM Modi also took an indirect swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi without naming him.

The prime minister said that some people within the country are “drowned in the darkness of despair” and are spreading lies and creating an atmosphere of negativity.

His remarks come amid Rahul Gandhi's repeated criticism of the central government over issues including unemployment and economic conditions. Rahul Gandhi has also raised concerns about employment opportunities for India's youth.

PM Modi argued that the country has risen above such negativity and achieved a 7.8% growth rate. He stressed that India must maintain this momentum and continue working towards becoming a self-reliant economy.

Focus on ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat.'

The Prime Minister also called for greater emphasis on Atmanirbhar Bharat and encouraged citizens to support locally produced goods.

He urged people to follow the principle of ‘Vocal for Local,' saying that greater consumption of Indian products can strengthen domestic businesses and the country's economy.

PM Modi also appealed to citizens to reconsider non-essential spending abroad, including unnecessary foreign travel and overseas weddings, and encouraged people to choose India as a destination for major celebrations.

PM Modi Appeals Against Unnecessary Gold Purchases

In another part of his message, PM Modi appealed to people to avoid purchasing gold unless it is necessary.

He argued that reducing unnecessary imports and encouraging domestic production can contribute to India's goal of becoming more self-reliant.

The Prime Minister said that greater focus on Swadeshi and self-reliance would help India move closer to the goal of becoming a developed nation by the time the country completes 100 years of independence.

‘140 Crore Indians Can Take India Forward’

Concluding his message, PM Modi praised the hard work of India's citizens and said the country must continue working to turn the dreams of its younger generation into reality.

He called on citizens to remain committed to development and said the collective strength of 140 crore Indians can take the country to new heights.

The Prime Minister's message combined celebration of India's latest economic growth figures with an appeal for self-reliance, local consumption, and continued economic momentum.
