Meth Worth ₹260 Crore Seized From South Delhi Flat; Two Arrested as NCB–Delhi Police Bust Transnational Drug Racket

Major Drug Racket Cracked in South Delhi

In a significant breakthrough in India’s ongoing battle against narcotics trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Special Cell (Counter Intelligence) unit of the Delhi Police jointly dismantled a transnational drug syndicate operating out of South Delhi.

Officials confirmed on Sunday that the agencies seized over ₹260 crore worth of methamphetamine from a flat in the upscale Chattarpur area and arrested two individuals linked to the operation.

The seizure—one of the largest in recent years—underscores the scale and sophistication of the cartel, which authorities believe had international networks extending well beyond India’s borders.

328 kg Methamphetamine Recovered

According to preliminary findings, the recovered consignment weighed 328 kilograms, with a street value estimated at ₹262 crore.

Investigators say the flat in Chattarpur was being used as a storage and transit point by the drug network. The arrested accused are undergoing questioning, and more arrests are expected as officials uncover the syndicate’s supply chain and foreign connections.

Amit Shah Praises Multi-Agency Operation

The successful operation drew praise from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who posted about the bust on X (formerly Twitter). Commending the agencies’ coordination, he wrote:

“Our govt is shattering drug cartels at unprecedented pace. Fiercely pursuing the top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top approach to the investigation of drugs, a breakthrough was achieved by seizing 328 kg of methamphetamine worth ₹262 crore in New Delhi and arresting two. The operation was a brilliant example of seamless multi-agency coordination to achieve PM Modi Ji’s vision for a drug-free India. Congratulations to the joint team of NCB and Delhi Police.”

His statement highlights the government’s intensified crackdown on narcotics as part of its broader vision to curb drug trafficking through both national and cross-border enforcement partnerships.

Details of the Operation

Though authorities have not disclosed the full timeline of the operation, officials revealed that the bust followed weeks of intelligence-gathering on the cartel’s movements and storage points.

Key features of the operation included:

·         Joint surveillance on suspected supply channels

·         Covert tracking of courier networks and communication patterns

·         Rapid on-ground action once the stockpile was traced to the Chattarpur apartment

·         Immediate arrest of the two suspects found linked to the seized consignment

Sources suggest that the operation may be part of a larger crackdown targeting multiple nodes of a global narcotics supply chain.

Expanding Investigations and Larger Network Suspected

Officials believe that the arrested individuals were part of a wider network with operations in Southeast Asia and possibly Latin America. The NCB is now working with international agencies to trace the origin of the seized methamphetamine and identify other members of the cartel.

Further raids in Delhi and other states are expected in the coming days.

India’s Continued War Against Synthetic Drugs

The bust comes amid growing concerns over the rising flow of synthetic drugs, especially methamphetamine, into India. Agencies have noted a shift from traditional narcotics to laboratory-made substances, which can be produced in smaller spaces, transported discreetly, and sold at higher profits.

This seizure marks a major victory for enforcement agencies striving to curb these networks and their financial operations.
