Miss Universe 2025 Controversy Grows as Judge Claude Makélélé Resigns Days Before Ceremony
Pudvi Times – Entertainment Report Bangkok, Thailand: The Miss Universe 2025 pageant has been hit by another controversy as French soccer manager Claude Makélélé, serving as a judge for the event, announced his resignation just three days before the grand finale scheduled for November 21, 2025.
Makélélé’s resignation comes shortly after Omar Harfouch, a composer and judge, stepped down, raising questions about potential issues behind the scenes at the prestigious international beauty pageant.
Statement from Claude Makélélé
On November 18, Makélélé posted a statement on Instagram, saying:
"Regretfully, I will not be attending Miss Universe 2025. Thank you for your understanding and support."
While no specific reasons were mentioned, he cited “unforeseen personal reasons” and expressed sincere regret. In his post, he added:
"This was a difficult decision, as I hold Miss Universe in the highest regard. The platform represents empowerment, diversity, and excellence — values I have always championed throughout my career. I sincerely apologise to the organisation, the contestants, and everyone involved, and I hope to be able to contribute in the future under better circumstances."
Pageant Implications
The resignations of two judges just days before the competition have sparked speculation and concern among fans and industry insiders. While the Miss Universe organisation has not released an official statement addressing the resignations, the event is expected to go ahead as planned at Bangkok’s Impact Arena.
The incident has added tension to what is usually a glamorous and meticulously organised international pageant, with observers now keenly watching how the organisers handle the last-minute judge changes.
