Nepali Woman Arrested at Mumbai Airport for Attempting Travel on Fake Indian Passport

Mumbai authorities have arrested a Nepali woman at Shivaji Maharaj International Airport for attempting to fly to Muscat using a forged Indian passport. The woman, who identified herself as Kajal at the immigration counter, claimed her birthplace was Nohra, Himachal Pradesh.

Immigration officers grew suspicious due to her distinctly Nepali facial features. Upon further questioning by authorities, she admitted her true identity as Kajal Lama, a resident of Parsa district, Nepal.

The woman revealed that she had leveraged her parents’ earlier migration to Himachal Pradesh to obtain fraudulent documents, including an Aadhaar card, PAN card, and a bona fide certificate. Using these forged credentials, she secured an Indian passport from the Shimla Passport Office.

She has now been booked on charges of document forgery, misleading passport authorities, and attempting illegal international travel. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the fraud.

This incident highlights the challenges authorities face in detecting sophisticated document forgeries and preventing illegal cross-border travel.
