‘Ranveer Singh Is the Next Superstar’: Rohit Shetty Had Predicted His Rise Years Before ‘Dhurandhar’

Ranveer Singh has once again become one of the biggest talking points in Bollywood following the success of Dhurandhar. The film, released in two parts, has reportedly delivered a massive box-office performance and further strengthened discussions around Ranveer’s position among Bollywood’s leading stars.

However, Ranveer’s rise did not come as a surprise to filmmaker Rohit Shetty. In an earlier talk-show appearance, Shetty had spoken extensively about Ranveer and predicted that he would become the next superstar.

Rohit Shetty, who worked with Ranveer in Simmba, described their relationship as being similar to that of brothers. He praised the actor’s ability to connect with audiences and said that Ranveer genuinely wanted to spread happiness among people.

Shetty also highlighted Ranveer’s versatility. He pointed to films such as Gully Boy, Dil Dhadakne Do and Simmba, which featured the actor in very different roles and genres. According to Shetty, performing such contrasting characters successfully is not something every actor can do.

The filmmaker also praised Ranveer’s remarkable energy and work ethic. He recalled that Ranveer could maintain the same level of enthusiasm whether he was working at 9 in the morning or 2 at night. Shetty said that when Ranveer was on a film set, he remained completely focused on his work.

During the conversation, Rohit Shetty went a step further and described Ranveer as someone who was already close to becoming a superstar. He said that Ranveer was “the next superstar”, a statement that has gained renewed attention following the success of Dhurandhar.

Dhurandhar was released in two parts, with the first part arriving in December 2025 and the second part in March 2026. The film was directed by Aditya Dhar and featured Ranveer Singh alongside actors including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun.

According to the figures provided, Dhurandhar Part 1 collected around ₹1,300 crore worldwide during its lifetime run, while Part 2 reportedly crossed around ₹1,800 crore.

With the film's reported box-office success, Ranveer Singh's career has entered another major phase. His performances across different genres, combined with the commercial success of Dhurandhar, have brought renewed attention to Rohit Shetty's earlier comments about the actor's potential.

The old interview has now resurfaced as fans look back at Shetty's prediction and Ranveer's journey from films like Band Baaja Baaraat, Lootera and Gully Boy to major commercial projects such as Simmba and Dhurandhar.
