US Lawmakers Ask President Trump to Reconsider H-1B Visa Restrictions
Washington, D.C.: Several US lawmakers have urged President Donald Trump to review his recent H-1B visa proclamation, which includes a $100,000 fee on new applications. In a letter, Representatives Jimmy Panetta, Ami Bera, Salud Carbajal, and Julie Johnson highlighted concerns that the restrictions could harm US-India relations and negatively affect the country’s technology sector.
The legislators noted that Indian professionals on H-1B visas play a key role in advancing IT and artificial intelligence in the United States. They emphasized that many of the nation’s leading companies were founded or managed by former H-1B holders, who contribute to innovation, job creation, and maintaining America’s competitive edge in technology.
