‘Baahubali: The Epic’ Sets New Box Office Record on Day 1 of Re-Release
Hyderabad: Director S.S. Rajamouli’s remastered blockbuster Baahubali: The Epic, featuring Prabhas in the lead, has stormed the box office once again, setting a new benchmark for re-released films in India.
According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Baahubali: The Epic earned around ₹10.4 crore on its opening day in India. The film’s re-release outperformed previous records set by other hit reissues such as Vijay’s Ghilli (₹4.87 crore) and Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja (₹5.75 crore). It also surpassed the first-day earnings of recent releases like Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra (₹2.71 crore) and Dragon (₹6.5 crore).
A Legendary Comeback
The re-edited version combines Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017) into a single 3-hour-45-minute cinematic experience. Produced by Arka Media Works, the film opened in theatres on October 31, 2025, with enhanced visuals and sound. Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia, the epic revisits the kingdom of Mahishmati and the rise of its heroic warrior, Amarendra Baahubali.
Global Success
The re-release isn’t limited to India. The film has opened across more than 1,150 screens worldwide, including over 400 in the United States, 210 across the UK and Ireland, and multiple venues in the UAE, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
Behind the Re-Edit
CV Rao, Chief Technology Officer at Annapurna Studios, shared insights into the project’s remastering process. “The original post-production for each film took about four months. This time, merging both films into a seamless narrative took around 10 weeks. Delivering the final product in multiple formats was the real challenge,” he explained.
With a strong opening, enthusiastic audience response, and impressive global reach, Baahubali: The Epic has once again proven the enduring magic of Rajamouli’s cinematic universe.
