Himanta Sarma, Gaurav Gogoi Clash Over ‘Pakistani Agent’ Allegation
Tensions flared on Friday between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, as Sarma once again accused Gogoi of being a “100% Pakistani agent” allegedly “planted by foreign powers” in India.
Speaking to the media in Guwahati, Sarma asserted, “Gaurav Gogoi is a Pakistani agent. He has been placed in our country by foreign interests.” He further invited Gogoi to pursue a defamation case if his allegations were untrue, claiming that he possesses enough evidence to substantiate his statements. “At the appropriate time, I will present all the details. I have delayed speaking publicly because it could appear insensitive following the recent death of singer Zubeen Garg,” Sarma added.
Responding sharply, Gogoi criticized the Chief Minister, calling his remarks “baseless” and stating they reflect why Sarma is “unfit to serve as the Chief Minister of Assam.”
This latest confrontation marks another chapter in the ongoing political feud between the ruling BJP in Assam and the opposition Congress, with both leaders continuing to exchange strong accusations ahead of upcoming political events.
