“Into the Universe”: Ayushmann Khurrana Celebrates Thamma’s 100 Crore Milestone with a Special Maddock Reunion
Ayushmann Khurrana is all smiles as Thamma crosses the ₹100 crore mark, joining forces with a familiar face from the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) to celebrate the achievement.
After a two-year gap following Dream Girl 2 (2023), Ayushmann returned to the big screen this Diwali with Thamma, starring alongside Rashmika Mandanna. The film marked both their debut in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, cleverly linking back to previous hits like Stree (2018) and Munjya (2024). Fans were treated to a host of Easter eggs, including a cameo by Varun Dhawan as Bhediya and a significant appearance by Abhishek Banerjee reprising his role as Jana from Stree.
A particularly hilarious meta-moment had audiences in splits when Jana (Abhishek Banerjee) mistook Alok (Ayushmann Khurrana) for Bittu, the character played by Aparshakti Khurana—who also happens to be Ayushmann’s real-life brother. To mark the film’s success, the Khurrana brothers teamed up for a fun celebration video.
Sharing the clip, Aparshakti wrote, “We thought only Bicky’s girlfriend was spooky… turns out our own brother is a ghost too. But blood is thicker than fear 🤭. Alone, I am Bittu; together, we are Bitt-too-much! Hope everyone had a Thammakedaar time watching Thamma! Thank you for all the love for the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe ❤️.”
Maddock Films also chimed in under the post, saying, “Bittu and Alok in MHCU? We can totally see it!”
In a recent conversation with News18, Ayushmann revealed some behind-the-scenes fun about the meta joke. “That scene wasn’t in the original script. It was added at the last minute, probably by Amar Kaushik or Abhishek Banerjee. Honestly, it took us two or three takes to film because I kept bursting out laughing. It was such a brilliant meta joke!” he said. He also hinted at future collaborations with his brother, teasing fans: “I can’t wait for more moments with him—it’s going to be wild.”
Fans are now eagerly anticipating a crossover between Alok and Bittu in the expanding Maddock Horror Comedy Universe!
