21-Year-Old Holds Father at Gunpoint in Delhi, Arrested After ₹10 Lakh Robbery
In a shocking case of betrayal, a 21-year-old man was arrested for allegedly robbing his own father at gunpoint and fleeing with ₹10 lakh in East Delhi, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place in the Laxmi Nagar area when the accused, along with two accomplices, intercepted his father and threatened him with a pistol. During the robbery, the accused reportedly fired shots in the air to create panic before escaping with the cash.
Police received an emergency PCR call and immediately launched an investigation. Initially, the attackers were believed to be unidentified masked men, but a breakthrough came after officers scanned footage from over 100 CCTV cameras across the route. One of the suspects was caught on camera removing his mask, leading to a startling revelation—the main आरोपी was the victim’s own son.
Further investigation revealed that the crime was carefully planned. The accused had prior knowledge of his father’s financial movements and conspired with his associates, both of whom had previously worked at the father’s factory.
Acting swiftly, Delhi Police tracked down the main आरोपी in Mukherjee Nagar, while his accomplices were arrested near a toll plaza as they attempted to flee towards Uttar Pradesh. Officials confirmed that the entire stolen amount of ₹10 lakh has been recovered.
During interrogation, the आरोपी allegedly confessed that he committed the crime due to personal grievances and financial disputes with his father. Police have described the incident as a premeditated “inside job”, highlighting concerns over rising cases of crimes involving close acquaintances and family members.
The accused have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
