The searches were carried out as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected financial misconduct and possible violations under money laundering laws.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the raids targeted locations associated with individuals and entities involved in the acquisition of land for the Bharatmal project. Investigators are examining whether inflated compensation, misuse of funds, or illegal financial transactions took place during the land acquisition process.
The Bharatmal project, a major national highway development initiative, aims to enhance road connectivity and boost economic growth. However, allegations of irregularities in land acquisition have surfaced in certain regions, prompting central agencies to step in.
