Family members, including Arya’s wife, son, and close relatives, attended the cremation, which was held under tight security. Police sources said the ceremony was conducted quietly to avoid public gatherings, given the sensitivity surrounding the case.

Arya, aged 50, had taken 19 people—including 17 children aged between 10 and 12—hostage inside a Mumbai studio on Thursday. The standoff lasted nearly three hours before police stormed the premises, safely rescuing all the captives. Arya was killed during the operation.

Investigators are still examining Arya’s background to determine the motive behind the incident. Preliminary findings suggest he may have been facing personal and financial distress, though officials have yet to confirm any specific trigger.

The dramatic rescue operation, which unfolded live across social media and news channels, has drawn praise for the Mumbai Police’s swift response while also sparking discussions on mental health and crisis intervention measures.
