“Lost 85% of His Vision, Health Deteriorating…” Imran Khan’s Sons Raise Serious Concerns

The health of former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has once again become a major political issue in Pakistan. His sons, Sulaiman Khan and Kasim Khan, have expressed serious concerns about their father’s condition while he remains imprisoned.

According to reports, the family has alleged that Imran Khan’s health has deteriorated and that he is not receiving adequate medical care. His sons have also criticised the treatment of their father in prison and raised concerns about his continued detention.

Claim of 85% Vision Loss

Concerns over Imran Khan’s eyesight have been reported previously. In February 2026, his lawyer told Pakistan’s Supreme Court that Imran Khan had reportedly lost around 85% of the vision in his right eye, leaving only about 15% vision in that eye.

The Supreme Court subsequently ordered a medical evaluation by specialist doctors. However, Pakistani authorities later said that medical examinations showed improvement in his eyesight and rejected allegations that he was being denied necessary medical treatment.

The conflicting claims have continued to fuel concerns among Imran Khan’s family and supporters about his medical condition.

Supreme Court Ordered Medical Examination

Imran Khan’s health situation intensified in August when Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered that he be taken to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for medical examination and treatment.

The court also directed that an independent medical panel be involved, including specialists such as an ophthalmologist and cardiologist, along with a general physician and Imran Khan’s personal doctor.

However, reports said that Imran Khan was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) instead of Shifa International Hospital. After undergoing medical examinations, he was reportedly returned to Adiala Jail.

His party and family questioned whether the Supreme Court’s directions had been fully followed, while Pakistani authorities cited security considerations and maintained that appropriate medical examinations had been conducted.

Sons Warn of Authoritarianism

Imran Khan’s sons have also linked their father’s imprisonment and alleged treatment to the wider political situation in Pakistan.

Sulaiman Khan has expressed concerns about the growing influence of the military in Pakistan’s political system. His international lawyer has also alleged that Imran Khan’s case reflects a broader decline in democratic institutions and political freedoms.

These allegations have been made by Imran Khan’s family and legal representatives. Pakistani authorities have rejected allegations of mistreatment and inadequate medical care.

Government Rejects Allegations

Pakistan’s government has denied claims that Imran Khan is being deliberately denied medical treatment or subjected to improper conditions in prison.

Authorities have maintained that he has access to medical facilities and that his health is being monitored. Officials have also rejected allegations that he has been kept in prolonged isolation without access to necessary care.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s sister, Uzma Khan, has approached the Supreme Court over the dispute surrounding the implementation of the court’s medical-transfer order. The court is expected to hear the contempt petition in September.

Imran Khan has remained in prison since 2023 and faces multiple convictions and legal cases. He and his party have repeatedly described the cases against him as politically motivated, while authorities deny the allegations.

The latest controversy over his health has once again brought Pakistan’s political crisis, judicial system, prison conditions and the role of the military in politics into the spotlight.
