Karnataka Congress Pushes for Leadership Clarity as Demand for DK Shivakumar’s Elevation Grows

New Delhi/Bengaluru:
A fresh wave of political activity has surged within the Karnataka Congress as several legislators traveled to New Delhi to press the party leadership for clarity over the long-discussed demand to elevate Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar to the state’s top post.

Party MLAs emphasized that the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the leadership question is beginning to affect morale and internal cohesion, urging the high command to intervene and settle the matter decisively.

“DK Shivakumar Will Be CM Soon” — MLA Reaffirms Confidence

Reinforcing the growing sentiment among a section of Congress lawmakers, Ramanagara MLA Iqbal Hussain publicly asserted his unwavering belief that Shivakumar will soon take charge as Chief Minister.

“I always stand by that statement… 200 per cent, he will become the CM soon,” Hussain said, speaking to reporters. “The high command will decide. As our leader Shivakumar said, the transfer of power is a secret deal among five to six party leaders, and those five to six people will decide.”

His comments come amid renewed discussions regarding the alleged power-sharing understanding within the party, a topic that has resurfaced repeatedly since the Congress formed the government in Karnataka.

High Command Weighs Options

While Congress leaders in the state continue to express their backing for Shivakumar, the final decision rests with the party’s national leadership, which has so far not provided a clear timeline or public stance on the matter.

With Karnataka’s political landscape growing increasingly tense, party insiders say a final directive from the high command could determine the stability and direction of the Congress government for the remainder of its term.
