Mumbai Milk Prices Hiked by ₹9, Tabela Milk Now Costs ₹102 Per Litre
Mumbai residents are facing another inflationary blow as the price of table milk has increased by ₹9 per liter from September 1, 2026. The new price has crossed the ₹100 mark, reaching ₹102 per liter.
Mumbai residents are set to pay more for fresh table milk as milk producers have increased prices by ₹9 per liter from September 1, 2026. Following the hike, tabela milk that was earlier available for around ₹93 per litre will now cost ₹102 per litre. The revised prices are expected to remain in effect until February 28, 2027.
Milk producers have attributed the increase to the rising cost of dairy operations. According to them, expenses related to cattle feed, fodder, and other essential inputs have increased significantly in recent months.
Producers claim that prices of feed items such as grains, tur chuni, and gram chuni have risen by up to 25 percent, putting additional pressure on dairy farmers and tabela operators.
The price hike comes just ahead of the festive season, when demand for milk and dairy products generally increases. The rise could therefore add to the monthly household budgets of consumers who regularly purchase fresh tabela milk.
Meanwhile, authorities in Maharashtra are also stepping up action against milk adulteration and synthetic milk networks. The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA), under its chief Tukaram Mundhe, has carried out inspections and enforcement operations against suspected adulteration.
Several units have reportedly been sealed, FIRs registered, and arrests made as part of the crackdown. The administration has also taken action against the production of analogues and non-dairy products.
With Tabela Milk now crossing the ₹100-per-litre mark, Mumbai consumers are likely to feel the impact of the latest price increase, particularly during the upcoming festive season.
