NTA Postpones CUET UG 2026 Exam Scheduled for May 28 Over Bakrid Holiday

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed the CUET UG 2026 examinations that were scheduled to take place on 28 May, citing the revised date of the Bakrid holiday as the reason behind the decision.

According to officials, both examination shifts planned for the day will now be conducted on new dates, which are expected to be announced shortly through the agency’s official website and public notices.

The decision came after students, parents and several organisations raised concerns about the clash between the entrance examination and the religious holiday. Many candidates had appealed for the schedule to be reconsidered to avoid inconvenience for students observing Bakrid celebrations.

In its latest notification, the NTA advised candidates to regularly check official portals for updates regarding the revised examination timetable and fresh admit card information.

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) is one of India’s largest undergraduate entrance examinations and is used for admissions into central and participating universities across the country.

Education experts say the postponement is likely to affect examination logistics and scheduling for thousands of students, though many welcomed the move as a practical step considering the holiday overlap.

Officials have clarified that apart from the postponed sessions, the remaining CUET UG 2026 examination schedule will continue as planned unless further announcements are made.
