Sunita Ahuja Reacts to Govinda’s Apology: ‘I Never Wanted Him to Apologise for Me’
Mumbai, November 14, 2025 — Actress Sunita Ahuja has expressed her disapproval of husband Govinda’s apology over her recent remarks about their family priest. Earlier this month, Govinda shared a video on Instagram, apologising on her behalf and speaking about the priest’s long-standing connection with their family. However, in her latest YouTube vlog, Sunita clarified that she never wanted Govinda to apologise for her comments.
“I am hearing things like I said something wrong. For that, my beloved Govinda ji, my husband, had to apologise. I did not like that at all because I would never want him to apologise in front of anyone because of me,” Sunita said.
She added that she had not targeted anyone specifically and was only sharing personal experiences. “If anyone felt bad, I want to apologise myself to each and every guru ji. Govinda did not have to apologise. I did not like it and would never want him to do that again,” she stated.
The controversy traces back to Sunita’s appearance on Paras Chhabra’s podcast, where she discussed fraudulent godmen. She mentioned, “He is Govinda’s priest. He’s fake. He keeps suggesting new rituals and pujas and keeps charging money for them. ‘Get this puja done for ₹2 lakh!’ I tell him to do his own puja because it won’t help Govinda. I don’t believe in giving away ₹2 or 10 lakh for so-called rituals.”
This public exchange comes amid persistent rumours about Govinda and Sunita’s marital tensions. The couple, married quietly in March 1987, have shared a long-standing relationship that predates Govinda’s rise to Bollywood stardom in the 1990s.
Despite the ongoing controversy, Sunita’s latest statements underscore her wish to personally address matters rather than have her husband step in.
