FIR Registered Against Abhishek Banerjee Over Alleged Inflammatory Remarks; BJP’s Dilip Ghosh Criticises TMC Leader

Fresh political controversy has erupted in West Bengal after an FIR was registered against Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee over alleged inflammatory speeches made during recent public addresses.

The complaint accuses Banerjee of making remarks that could allegedly disturb public harmony and provoke political tensions. Authorities have not yet disclosed full details of the charges, but the development has triggered a strong political reaction from opposition parties, particularly the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh criticised the TMC MP soon after the FIR surfaced, alleging that the ruling party in West Bengal was attempting to create a charged political atmosphere through provocative statements. Ghosh said political leaders should exercise restraint in public speeches and respect democratic norms.

The TMC, however, has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, claiming that opposition parties are trying to target Banerjee ahead of upcoming political campaigns and electoral activities. Party leaders argued that the remarks were being selectively interpreted to create controversy.

The incident has further intensified the ongoing political rivalry between the BJP and TMC in West Bengal, where both parties have frequently accused each other of aggressive political rhetoric and confrontation.

Officials said the matter is under legal review and further investigation is underway.
