IMD Forecast Brings Relief: Thunderstorms Likely to Break Nautapa’s Extreme 45°C Heatwave

After days of scorching temperatures and severe heatwave conditions during Nautapa, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a significant change in weather patterns across northern and central India. According to the latest prediction, thunderstorms, dust storms, gusty winds, and scattered rainfall are expected to reduce the intensity of the ongoing heatwave.

Several parts of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh have been witnessing temperatures touching or crossing 45°C over the past few days. The extreme heat, combined with dry winds, created difficult conditions for millions of people.

However, meteorologists now believe that moisture-laden winds and developing pre-monsoon systems could trigger sudden thunderstorms in many regions. The changing weather conditions are expected to bring down daytime temperatures by several degrees, providing temporary relief from the intense summer heat.

The IMD has also warned of possible lightning activity and strong winds during thunderstorms, advising residents to remain cautious while traveling or staying outdoors. Dust storms and temporary disruptions in visibility may also occur in some areas.

Health experts have continued to urge people to avoid direct sun exposure during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heatstroke and dehydration, especially for children and elderly citizens.

Weather analysts say the arrival of thunderstorm activity could indicate the gradual transition toward pre-monsoon conditions in northern India. While the summer season is far from over, the weakening of Nautapa’s extreme heat is being seen as a welcome relief after days of harsh temperatures.

Farmers are also expected to benefit from cooler conditions and light rainfall in some areas, particularly after prolonged dry weather. At the same time, officials are monitoring weather developments closely as sudden storms can sometimes lead to local flooding, tree falls, and power disruptions.

The India Meteorological Department is expected to issue updated forecasts and region-specific alerts over the coming days as weather activity intensifies across multiple states.
