IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Delhi Weekend; Rain, Thunderstorms and Lightning Expected

Today, the national capital is expected to experience partly cloudy skies with a warm daytime temperature ranging between 35°C and 37°C, according to the IMD forecast. The night temperature will stay relatively cool between 18°C and 20°C.

While April 2 itself is expected to remain dry, the weather department has predicted that rainfall and stormy conditions are likely to begin from Friday and continue through Saturday and Sunday, as a series of western disturbances head toward northwest India.

The yellow alert indicates potential thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds, and officials have advised people to stay updated and take necessary precautions, especially while travelling or conducting outdoor activities during these periods.

In addition to Delhi, nearby cities like Noida and Gurugram are also forecast to experience similar weather changes, with partly cloudy conditions today and rain‑bearing clouds expected later in the week.

Overall, the beginning of April in the capital region is shaping up to be unsettled weather‑wise, with warmer days giving way to rain and stormy spells over the weekend.
