A fragile calm has begun to take hold in the Middle East as a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon came into effect, with former U.S. President Donald Trump expressing optimism, stating that “good things are happening” on multiple diplomatic fronts.
The 10-day ceasefire, facilitated by the United States, aims to halt escalating hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants in Lebanon, which have intensified alongside the broader Iran-Israel conflict.
Trump, who played a central role in brokering the truce through talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, indicated that the agreement could serve as a stepping stone toward a more permanent peace arrangement.
