PM Narendra Modi to Launch Mega HPCL Refinery in Rajasthan Amid Tight Security Cover
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a major refinery project of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in Rajasthan today, marking a significant milestone in India’s energy and infrastructure development.
The refinery, considered one of the largest investments in the region, is expected to enhance domestic fuel production capacity and reduce dependence on imports. Officials state that the project will also generate employment opportunities and boost industrial growth in the state.
Given the high-profile nature of the visit, authorities have deployed around 5,000 security personnel across the venue and surrounding areas. Strict surveillance measures, including checkpoints and drone monitoring, have been put in place to ensure smooth proceedings.
The inauguration comes at a time when the central government is emphasizing infrastructure-led growth as a key pillar of economic policy. The project is also politically significant, as it reinforces the government’s focus on development in poll-bound and strategically important states.
Experts believe that the refinery will play a crucial role in strengthening India’s energy security while supporting downstream industries such as petrochemicals and manufacturing. The initiative aligns with the broader vision of making India a global energy hub.
