Ukraine Reports “Common Understanding” on US Peace Plan; Trump Envoy to Meet Putin
Ukraine has announced that a “common understanding” has been reached with the United States regarding a proposed peace plan aimed at ending the ongoing war with Russia. The plan, based on a 28-point framework, was presented to Kyiv last week and refined through weekend talks in Geneva involving American and Ukrainian officials.
In a social media post, US President Donald Trump stated that the original plan “has been fine-tuned, with additional input from both sides.” To advance the proposal, Trump has directed his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow next week. Meanwhile, US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll is scheduled to meet Ukrainian leaders later this week to continue discussions.
The announcement marks a potential diplomatic breakthrough in the long-standing conflict, signaling renewed efforts to negotiate a resolution acceptable to both Ukraine and Russia. Analysts say the coming meetings between US and Russian officials could play a crucial role in shaping the next phase of peace talks.
