Banking Operations Shut Across India on Saturday, Digital Services Continue Uninterrupted
Bank branches across India remain closed on Saturday as part of the weekly holiday schedule, while digital banking services such as UPI, ATM, and internet banking continue to operate normally.
Banking services across several parts of India remained closed on Saturday as part of the routine weekly holiday schedule observed by public and private sector banks. The closure affects physical branch operations, including cash deposits, withdrawals, and in-person customer services.
However, customers can continue to access essential banking functions through digital platforms, including UPI, mobile banking apps, ATM services, and internet banking facilities, which remain fully operational.
According to banking guidelines, most banks in India follow a five-day or six-day work schedule depending on the institution, with Saturdays often designated as non-working days. Despite the physical branch closures, financial transactions across the country continue smoothly through digital channels.
The Reserve Bank of India has consistently encouraged customers to adopt digital banking services, especially for routine transactions, to reduce dependency on branch visits.
