According to sources, the pilot informed Air Traffic Control about the engine issue as the aircraft approached Chennai Airport. Following the alert, a full emergency was declared at around 11:29 PM, prompting airport emergency services to be placed on standby.
The aircraft, operating as IndiGo flight 6E-723, safely landed on Runway 25 at around 11:37 PM. The flight was carrying 224 passengers and crew members, all of whom were reported safe.
Emergency response teams had been alerted as a precaution after the pilot reported the technical problem. The aircraft was able to land safely without any reported injuries or casualties.
Following the landing, the situation at Chennai Airport returned to normal. The aircraft is expected to undergo a technical inspection to determine the exact cause of the engine malfunction.
