The resignation of Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer Divya Mittal has become one of the most discussed administrative developments in the state. Divya Mittal began her administrative journey as Joint Magistrate in Meerut in November 2015. She later served as Chief Development Officer in Gonda before moving to Kanpur Nagar for industrial development responsibilities.

In 2019, she became the Vice Chairperson of the Bareilly Development Authority, followed by her appointment as District Magistrate of Sant Kabir Nagar in 2020.

Her tenure as District Magistrate of Mirzapur from 2022 became one of the defining phases of her career, where she focused on rural development, water accessibility, and public welfare initiatives.

In her farewell note, Divya Mittal described Mirzapur as the place that taught her the true meaning of public service.

She recalled a memorable moment when an elderly woman blessed her after a drinking water project reached a remote village. According to Mittal, that blessing meant more than any official recognition or administrative achievement.

She also wrote that Mirzapur taught her an important lesson: “Impossible is not a fact—it is an opinion.”

Deoria: A District That Changed Her Perspective

After serving in Lucknow, Mittal became District Magistrate of Deoria in 2024. She remained there for nearly two years before being transferred as Special Secretary in the Revenue Department.

In her resignation message, she emphasized that Deoria taught her that standing for what is right is not a choice—it is a duty.

Rather than listing administrative accomplishments, she reflected on the lives transformed through land rights, better irrigation, and dignified support for vulnerable communities.
