Tragedy in Hyderabad: Electronics Store Blaze Leaves 1 Dead, Several Injured
Hyderabad: A major fire and explosion tore through a two-floor electronics showroom in Hyderabad late Monday night, leaving at least one person dead and seven others injured, officials said. The incident occurred in Moghalpura, prompting a massive emergency response.
According to police, the fire broke out around 10 pm, engulfing the building and triggering a powerful explosion. The blast also caused a CNG-fitted car parked outside to catch fire.
“One person has lost their life, while seven others, including the shop owner, sustained burns,”
a police official from Moghalpura Police Station confirmed. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Fire Response and Evacuation
Emergency services acted swiftly:
- 10 fire tenders were dispatched to the scene
- Flames were brought under control after several hours
- Residents of nearby buildings were evacuated to ensure safety
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) Kiran Khare Prabhakar said the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short-circuit inside the showroom, though the exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
A neighboring shopkeeper reported hearing a loud blast as the fire spread, adding to the chaos.
Cause Under Investigation
Officials are conducting a detailed probe into the circumstances leading to the fire and the subsequent explosion. Preliminary reports point to an electrical short-circuit, but authorities are examining all possibilities, including flammable materials inside the showroom.
Residents and business owners in the area remain on alert as authorities continue to inspect the site for safety.
Public Reaction and Safety Concerns
The incident has sparked widespread concern on social media, with netizens sharing videos of the blaze and urging stricter fire safety protocols in commercial areas, especially where CNG vehicles are parked nearby.
“It’s terrifying to see how quickly fire can spread in crowded markets. Safety measures need to be mandatory for all electronics stores,” one Hyderabad resident commented online.
