Gaza Health Officials Report Over 69,000 Palestinian Deaths Since Outbreak of Israel-Hamas War

Gaza City | November 12, 2025: The Gaza Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that more than 69,000 Palestinians have been killed since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, marking one of the deadliest and most protracted conflicts in the region’s recent history.

Gaza Health Officials Report Over 69,000 Palestinian Deaths Since Outbreak of Israel-Hamas War

Officials said the toll includes thousands of women and children, with tens of thousands more wounded or missing as airstrikes, ground operations, and ongoing clashes continue across the Gaza Strip. The densely populated enclave remains under severe humanitarian strain, with hospitals, shelters, and aid facilities struggling to cope with the influx of casualties.

“The situation is catastrophic. Medical services are collapsing, and essential supplies are running out,” said a Gaza health official, urging for immediate international assistance.

Escalation and Humanitarian Crisis

The conflict began more than a year ago after deadly cross-border attacks triggered a large-scale Israeli military response aimed at dismantling Hamas’ infrastructure. Since then, large sections of Gaza City, Rafah, and Khan Younis have been reduced to rubble, displacing hundreds of thousands of residents.

Humanitarian agencies warn that the ongoing siege has cut off food, fuel, electricity, and medical supplies, leaving millions of Palestinians dependent on limited aid convoys entering through Egypt and Israel under strict coordination.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the majority of Gaza’s population now faces acute food insecurity, with more than half of all hospitals and health centers either destroyed or non-functional.

International Reactions and Ceasefire Efforts

World leaders and humanitarian organizations have intensified calls for an immediate ceasefire and unhindered access to aid, warning of potential famine and disease outbreaks if conditions continue to deteriorate.

The United Nations, European Union, and several Arab nations have called on both sides to de-escalate hostilities, while negotiations for a sustained truce remain stalled despite repeated mediation attempts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.

Israel maintains that its military operations are aimed at eliminating Hamas’ command network and ensuring long-term security, while Palestinian officials accuse Israel of indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas.

Humanitarian Appeal

Relief agencies, including the Red Cross, UNRWA, and Doctors Without Borders, have renewed appeals for safe corridors and the protection of medical workers. Many hospitals are now operating far beyond capacity, relying on emergency generators and makeshift wards to treat the wounded.

“Gaza is on the brink of total collapse. Without immediate international action, the human cost will continue to rise,” said a spokesperson for a leading humanitarian agency.

Outlook

As the war enters another month, there is little sign of a lasting resolution. The growing death toll underscores the magnitude of the crisis, with both sides facing mounting international pressure to halt the fighting and resume dialogue.

For civilians in Gaza, the struggle to survive amid destruction and displacement continues — a stark reminder of the urgent need for peace in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
