Ravi was apprehended from his residence in Kukatpally late Friday evening and subsequently handed over to the Cybercrime Wing of Hyderabad Police, officials confirmed. Authorities stated that Ravi played a central role in managing the website and coordinating the illegal distribution of copyrighted content to a wide online audience.

The iBomma website has been under police and industry scrutiny for months, following complaints from filmmakers and OTT platforms regarding the illegal streaming of movies and web series, resulting in significant revenue losses for the entertainment sector.

Ongoing Investigation

Police sources indicate that Ravi’s arrest is expected to yield critical leads that could help identify other individuals involved in the piracy network, as well as the technical infrastructure used to host and distribute content illegally. Investigators are reviewing digital evidence from his devices to map the full scale of operations.

Industry Reaction

The arrest has been welcomed by filmmakers and streaming platforms, who have long condemned piracy as a major threat to the entertainment industry. “Piracy not only affects revenue but also impacts employment in the film sector. Enforcement action like this sends a strong message,” said an industry insider.

The Cybercrime Wing has assured continued vigilance and warned that anyone found distributing pirated content will face strict legal action under Indian copyright and cybercrime laws.
