Mumbai CNG Disruption Hits Autos, Taxis, and BEST Buses; Services May Dip Today
Mumbai, November 2025:
Mumbai is facing a major CNG supply disruption, affecting auto rickshaws, taxis, and BEST buses across the city. The issue stems from damage to a GAIL pipeline inside the RCF compound, which has cut off supply to Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL)’s City Gate Station in Wadala, a crucial hub supplying CNG to Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai.
Impact on Public Transport
- Auto rickshaws and taxis are likely to operate at reduced capacity due to limited CNG availability.
- BEST bus services may face delays or reduced frequency as fuel shortages hit their daily operations.
- Commuters are advised to plan travel in advance and explore alternative transport options.
Cause of the Disruption
- The disruption follows damage to a GAIL pipeline inside the RCF (Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers) compound.
- The City Gate Station in Wadala, operated by MGL, is a key node supplying CNG to Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai.
- Officials are assessing the damage and working to restore supply as quickly as possible.
Official Statement
An MGL spokesperson stated:
"We are working urgently to repair the pipeline and resume normal CNG supply. Safety measures are being strictly followed during the restoration work."
Advice to Commuters
- Use public transport alternatives where possible.
- Keep updated with live service alerts from BEST and MGL.
- Expect temporary disruptions until the pipeline is repaired and normal supply resumes.
