NHAI Eases KYV Verification Process for FASTag Users
New Delhi — The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a simplified procedure for the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for FASTag users, offering relief to vehicle owners who faced challenges under the previous system.
The KYV process, introduced last year, requires all FASTag users to submit vehicle registration details and images to ensure that the FASTag is linked to the correct vehicle. The initiative aimed to curb misuse, such as some drivers using car tags to bypass toll payments on trucks.
However, many users found the earlier system cumbersome, reporting difficulties in uploading multiple photos and documents, navigating complex websites, and dealing with unexpected tag suspensions at toll plazas.
Under the updated guidelines issued by Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), a subsidiary of NHAI, FASTag services will no longer be suspended for incomplete KYV submissions. Users will now receive adequate time and reminders to complete the verification process, making it more convenient and less stressful for vehicle owners.
NHAI has emphasized that the move is part of ongoing efforts to improve the FASTag system while ensuring compliance without creating unnecessary hurdles for users.
