Fatehpur in Sikar district emerged as the coldest location, registering a minimum of 6.8°C, closely followed by Nagaur at 6.9°C. Other cities, including Churu, Pilani, and Bikaner, also recorded sub-10°C temperatures, indicating a steady dip in mercury levels across northern Rajasthan.

Meteorologists attribute the drop to clear skies, dry northwesterly winds, and post-monsoon atmospheric cooling, which have led to rapid heat loss during nighttime hours.

The IMD’s Jaipur center stated that similar conditions are likely to continue for the next few days, with night temperatures expected to hover below normal across most districts. Early morning fog or haze may also appear in parts of eastern and northern Rajasthan as humidity levels fluctuate.

Residents in regions like Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Churu have begun to feel the winter chill, with locals turning to woollens and warm beverages to cope with the sudden change.

Meanwhile, Jaipur recorded a minimum temperature of around 11°C, slightly below its seasonal average. The state capital, along with Ajmer and Kota, is expected to experience cooler mornings and pleasant afternoons in the coming days.

Forecast Ahead:

According to the IMD’s extended forecast, no significant weather system is likely to impact Rajasthan immediately. However, night temperatures may continue to dip further as northwesterly winds strengthen and humidity levels decrease.

With winter setting in early this year, agricultural regions in northern and western Rajasthan are also expected to benefit from cooler conditions, especially for crops requiring lower night temperatures.
