Sudarsan Pattnaik Pays Tribute to Dharmendra with 5-Foot Sand Sculpture at Puri Beach
PURI, Odisha — Renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik honored the late Bollywood legend Dharmendra with a breathtaking sand art installation at Puri Beach on Monday. The 5-foot-long sculpture, crafted from around six tonnes of sand, bore the heartfelt message: “RIP Dharmendra Ji, End of an Era.”
The artwork captures the charm, strength, and charisma that defined Dharmendra Ji, the He-Man of Bollywood, whose career spanned six decades and over 300 films. Iconic roles in classics such as Sholay, Phool Aur Patthar, and Chupke Chupke and memorable dialogues continue to resonate with fans across generations.
Students from Pattnaik’s Sand Art Institute assisted in the creation of the magnificent piece, highlighting the collaborative spirit behind the tribute. Pattnaik said, “Dharmendra Ji is not just an actor, he is an emotion for millions. This artwork is a humble salute to his unmatched contribution to Indian cinema.”
The sand sculpture has drawn crowds and social media attention, becoming a poignant symbol of the nation’s love and admiration for one of its most beloved cinematic icons.
