Tejashwi Yadav Condemns Mokama Violence, Seeks Action from Election Commission and Police
Patna, November 1, 2025: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday strongly condemned the violence that broke out in Mokama during campaigning for the Bihar Assembly elections, calling it a “blot on democracy.”
The incident, which resulted in the death of a Jan Suraaj Party supporter, has triggered widespread political outrage across the state. Clashes reportedly erupted between rival groups during a campaign event, prompting the Election Commission of India (ECI) to seek a detailed report from the Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) on the circumstances leading to the killing.
Speaking to the media, Tejashwi Yadav said, “There is no place for violence in a democratic country. I urge the administration and the Election Commission to take strict action against those responsible. Elections must reflect people’s will, not fear or intimidation.”
His brother and Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav also criticised the state government, alleging that deteriorating law and order and unemployment were fueling unrest. “The government is asleep. Until people have jobs, crime will not stop. This rally is a call for change,” he said during an event in Danapur.
Meanwhile, the Congress took a swipe at the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after its manifesto launch, sarcastically noting that the ruling coalition’s press conference “lasted only 26 seconds,” questioning its seriousness toward Bihar’s key issues.
The Election Commission has assured all parties that additional security measures will be deployed in sensitive constituencies to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
