According to BBP officials, the leopard had stopped eating on October 30, prompting immediate medical attention. Blood samples were taken and sent for examination to determine the cause of the sudden appetite loss. Despite efforts by the veterinary team, its health continued to deteriorate.

A preliminary postmortem report indicated fluid accumulation in the chest cavity and enlargement of the heart, both of which severely affected the animal’s respiration and cardiac function. Park officials expressed their condolences, noting that the young leopard had been under close observation since the first signs of illness.

The incident has raised concerns about monitoring protocols for big cats and the increasing frequency of metabolic and stress-related illnesses in captive wildlife. BBP authorities are reviewing enclosure conditions, diet plans, and veterinary schedules to ensure early detection of similar conditions in other animals.

As the investigation continues, the park is expected to release a detailed health report in the coming days.
