2,563 kg Ammonium Nitrate Seized From J&K Doctor’s Rented Faridabad House; Fresh Terror Links Emerge After Back-to-Back Explosive Recoveries

Faridabad, Haryana: In a major security breakthrough, police recovered 2,563 kilograms of ammonium nitrate from a rented house in Fatehpur Taga village, intensifying concerns over a suspected terror plot linked to multiple explosive recoveries in the region. The discovery comes just a day after police seized 360 kilograms of explosives and weapons from another rented home in Dhauj village.

2,563 kg Ammonium Nitrate Seized From J&K Doctor’s Rented Faridabad House; Fresh Terror Links Emerge After Back-to-Back Explosive Recoveries

According to officials, the Fatehpur Taga house was rented by Dr Muzammil Shakil, a 35-year-old physician from Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir, who had been teaching at Al-Falah Medical College. The local property owner has been detained for questioning as investigators widen the scope of the probe.

Two Rented Houses, One Growing Conspiracy

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Varun Dahiya confirmed that the accused had taken two separate houses on rent in Faridabad. The large ammonium nitrate stockpile—often used in the assembly of improvised explosive devices—was found on property owned by Maulana Istaq, the local imam.

“We are questioning Maulana Istaq, but it is too early to share further details,” Dahiya said, indicating that the investigation is still at a delicate stage.

Residents said police arrived at the mosque early Monday morning and detained the imam, seizing his phone and searching the premises. His family expressed shock, saying he had served the village community for two decades.

Ammonium Nitrate Linked to IED Plot

Sources familiar with the investigation revealed that the 2,563-kg consignment had allegedly arrived about 15 days before Dr Shakil’s arrest, and was intended for IED assembly as part of a larger terror operation. The massive chemical stockpile is one of the largest seizures reported in recent years.

Woman Doctor Under Scanner

Investigators are also probing the role of a woman doctor known to Dr Shakil. She is being interrogated in Jammu & Kashmir after weapons—including an AK Krinkov rifle, three magazines, a pistol, and ammunition—were recovered from a vehicle registered in her name.

Multi-Agency Probe Tightens Net

Faridabad Police declined to comment on the broader contours of the case, hinting at a coordinated investigation involving multiple agencies.

“Revealing more at this stage could hamper the probe,” an officer said, noting that the simultaneous recovery of explosives, weapons, and bomb-making chemicals points to a sophisticated network.

As searches continue and more detentions are expected, authorities are treating the case as a high-priority security threat with national implications.
