Teacher’s Explanation

When questioned by school authorities, Hasan clarified that:

  • He did not intend to misbehave with colleagues or disrupt the assembly.
  • His objection was solely based on personal religious beliefs.

Despite his explanation, authorities registered a complaint and suspended him pending investigation, citing the need to maintain decorum and adherence to established school practices.

Official Response

A senior school official stated:

“Every teacher is expected to follow the standard assembly procedures. While we respect personal beliefs, the morning assembly, including the singing of the National Anthem and ‘Vande Mataram’, is mandatory.”

The police have booked Hasan under relevant provisions for allegedly refusing to participate in a compulsory school routine, while the education department is reviewing the case.

Wider Reactions

The suspension has sparked discussion among local residents and educators about religious freedoms vs institutional rules. Education experts note that while personal beliefs should be respected, mandatory participation in national rituals remains a part of government school regulations.

The matter continues to unfold as authorities seek a balanced resolution between individual rights and school guidelines.
