All eyes on Amit Shah as BJP moves closer to finalising West Bengal chief minister and cabinet

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are holding a series of high-level meetings in New Delhi as the party prepares to announce its chief ministerial candidate and cabinet for West Bengal following its landmark electoral victory in the state.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is at the centre of the decision-making process, with party insiders saying he is personally overseeing consultations on leadership appointments and the structure of the new state government.

The BJP’s victory in West Bengal marks a major political breakthrough in a state long dominated by regional parties, especially the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee.

Party leaders have indicated that the selection process is focused on balancing regional representation, caste equations, administrative experience, and organisational loyalty. Several senior BJP figures from Bengal are reportedly being considered for top cabinet roles.
