Delhi Police have said they have uncovered what they describe as a potential security threat involving planned attacks on an historic temple in Delhi and a popular roadside eatery in neighbouring Sonipat.
According to senior officials, intelligence inputs suggested that the two locations were allegedly being considered as targets by a suspected ISI-linked module. The information triggered a coordinated investigation involving surveillance, technical monitoring, and questioning of multiple suspects over recent days.
Police sources said the alleged plan appeared aimed at creating panic in public spaces across the National Capital Region. However, they added that the suspected plot was detected in time, preventing any execution of the intended attacks.
Following the revelations, security has been stepped up at religious sites, transport hubs, and crowded commercial areas across Delhi and adjoining districts. Additional police personnel and plainclothes teams have been deployed to sensitive locations as a precautionary measure.
Investigators are now analysing digital devices and communication records seized during the operation to establish possible wider connections and external links. Officials have not disclosed the identities of those being questioned, citing the ongoing nature of the probe.
Authorities have urged the public not to panic while assuring that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain law and order. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
