Priya Sachdev Kapur Visits Sona Comstar’s Chennai Plant, Reflects on Leadership and Legacy Amid Estate Dispute

In an Instagram post, Priya shared moments from her visit — interacting with senior engineers, workers, and team leaders — along with a heartfelt message on leadership and innovation.

“Spent two enriching days with our leadership team at Sona Comstar’s Chennai plant and R&D centre, walking the shopfloor, meeting people, and witnessing the journey that keeps this place growing,” she wrote.

Among her posts was a photo of an African Talisay tree, planted by Sunjay Kapur himself. Priya described the moment as a touching reminder of his lasting legacy at Sona Comstar.

Reflecting on her interactions at the plant, she added,

“As I spoke with engineers perfecting the smallest details and building their own in-house machines, I saw innovation driven by quiet determination. Progress isn’t powered by machines alone — it’s driven by people, by their passion, purpose, and perseverance.”

Priya also shared her perspective on leadership, emphasizing empathy and presence over authority:

“Leadership is less about giving direction and more about being present. When leaders take care of their people, everything else begins to align — quality, innovation, and growth. Technology may define what we do, but people define who we are.”

She concluded by expressing gratitude and optimism for the company’s future:

The Estate Dispute

Following Sunjay Kapur’s passing in the UK on June 12 this year, a legal battle has erupted between his children from his first marriage — Samaira and Kiaan — and his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur.

The late industrialist, who headed Sona Comstar, was valued by Forbes at over $1.2 billion (₹10,300 crore) at the time of his death, with his total estate estimated at ₹30,000 crore.

His children have challenged the authenticity of his will, alleging that it was “forged” to exclude them and his mother, Rani Kapur, from inheritance. Their counsel, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, argued in court that the will contained irregularities and “favoured only Priya Kapur.”

Priya’s legal team, led by Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, rejected the allegations, calling the claims “baseless” and maintaining that the document was genuine.

The case continues to be heard in court, drawing widespread public attention due to the high-profile nature of the Kapur family and their business legacy.
