SSC Clarifies GD Exam Cancellation Row, Fresh Schedule to Be Completed Before May 31

A wave of confusion and concern spread among lakhs of candidates after reports surfaced regarding the cancellation of certain sessions of the SSC GD Exam 2026. Responding to the controversy, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) issued an official clarification stating that examinations affected due to technical or administrative reasons would be rescheduled and completed before May 31.

The SSC GD Constable examination is one of the largest recruitment exams in India, conducted for recruitment into various paramilitary forces including BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, and Assam Rifles. This year’s examination witnessed participation from millions of aspirants across the country.

According to reports, some examination centers experienced technical glitches, server disruptions, and logistical issues that reportedly affected the smooth conduct of exams in select shifts. Following complaints from candidates, rumors about a nationwide cancellation began circulating rapidly on social media platforms.

To address the panic, Staff Selection Commission clarified that only specific affected shifts or centers were under review and that there was no blanket cancellation of the entire examination process. Officials assured candidates that revised admit cards and fresh exam schedules for impacted candidates would be released shortly through official channels.

SSC also emphasized that all pending or rescheduled examinations would be conducted before May 31 to ensure that the recruitment process remains on track. Candidates were advised not to rely on unofficial social media claims and to regularly check the official SSC website for verified updates.

Several students had raised concerns regarding biometric verification delays, system login failures, and interruptions during online computer-based tests. In some cases, candidates claimed they lost exam time due to technical problems at examination centers.

Education experts say large-scale online examinations involving lakhs of candidates often face operational challenges, especially when conducted simultaneously across multiple states. However, they stressed that timely communication from authorities is critical to prevent misinformation and candidate anxiety.

The controversy has also intensified discussions about the infrastructure readiness of examination centers handling high-volume government recruitment tests. Many aspirants demanded stronger technical monitoring and backup systems to avoid disruptions during future exams.

Meanwhile, candidates whose examinations were completed successfully have been informed that their results and evaluation process will continue as scheduled. SSC officials stated that fairness and transparency remain top priorities in the recruitment process.

The commission is expected to release detailed center-wise and shift-wise updates in the coming days, including information regarding re-examination dates for affected candidates.

For millions of aspirants preparing for government jobs, the SSC clarification has provided temporary relief, though many continue to closely monitor official announcements regarding revised schedules and examination arrangements.
