Top Maoist Leader Madvi Hidma Killed in Andhra Pradesh Encounter

According to officials, Hidma, also known by the alias Santosh, was fleeing from Chhattisgarh along with his associates when they were surrounded by security forces in the Maredumilli forest between 6 am and 7 am.

“The elimination of Madvi Hidma and his close associates is a major blow to Maoist networks operating in Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. This operation demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence and field operations,” said a senior official.

Background on Madvi Hidma

Madvi Hidma had long been one of the most wanted Naxal leaders in India, involved in orchestrating attacks against security personnel and government establishments across Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and neighboring states. His death marks a significant setback for the Maoist insurgency in central and eastern India.

Implications of the Encounter

  • Strategic Blow: The loss of a top commander weakens the operational capabilities of Naxal cadres in the region.
  • Security Boost: The encounter highlights the efficiency of intelligence-led operations in neutralizing high-risk insurgents.
  • Reduced Threat: Authorities expect a temporary decline in organized attacks in the districts previously targeted by Hidma’s group.

Security agencies continue to monitor remaining Naxal operatives to prevent regrouping and maintain stability in affected areas.
