Vivek Oberoi Opens Up About Career Struggles After Speaking Out Against Salman Khan: “Threatening Calls to My Family”

In a recent conversation with Prakhar Gupta on YouTube, Vivek reflected on the period and the personal toll it took. “Looking back now, I can laugh at it,” he said, “but perspective comes only after time. What stays with you are the emotions of your parents—the tears in your mother’s eyes and your father’s reactions. Those are hard to forget.”

Vivek revealed that he faced professional blacklisting after the incident. “There came a point when I was being boycotted on all fronts. Films I had already signed were taken away from me, and no one wanted to work with me. I also received threatening calls—not just for me, but for my sister, my mother, and my father as well,” he shared.

He also opened up about the strain on his personal life. “During that period, my life was in complete chaos. I went through depression and often sought comfort from my mother. I kept asking, ‘Why me?’ Her response was simple: ‘Did you ever ask yourself that when you were winning awards, starring in films, and being celebrated by fans?’ That perspective stayed with me.”

Despite the setbacks, Vivek continued working in films and eventually carved a path as a successful businessman, though he acknowledges that he never regained the status of being the “next big star” in Bollywood. His later work includes films like Prince (2010), Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), and Krrish 3 (2013), among others.

Vivek’s story is a reminder of the volatility of fame in the film industry and the resilience required to navigate its pressures while staying true to oneself.
