Delhi Bakes in Early Summer Heat: Temperatures Rise as Hazy Sunshine Dominates April 1

The morning haze has been attributed to lingering moisture and dust particles in the air, while winds remain light, providing only minimal relief from the heat. Skies are expected to remain partly cloudy through the evening, although the chance of rain is currently low.

Meteorologists warn that this period marks the transition into peak summer, and citizens are advised to take precautions against heat exposure, stay hydrated, and avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.

“This early warming trend is consistent with Delhi’s climate pattern in recent years, where April often brings unseasonably high temperatures before the arrival of the pre-monsoon showers,” said an IMD official.

Residents can expect similar conditions over the next few days, with daytime temperatures staying in the mid-30s and nighttime temperatures ranging around 26 °C. The IMD has also indicated a possible increase in cloudiness and humidity levels later in the week, hinting at the gradual approach of seasonal pre-monsoon showers.

The combination of rising temperatures and urban heat is prompting health advisories, especially for children, the elderly, and outdoor workers. Citizens are encouraged to monitor local weather updates regularly for any sudden changes.
