Symbolic gesture sends a firm message after Islamabad’s false propaganda during Operation Sindoor
President Murmu Flies in Rafale Jet, Poses with Pilot Once Claimed ‘Captured’ by Pakistan
Ambala, Oct 29: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday flew in a Rafale fighter jet at the Ambala Air Force Station, marking her first sortie in India’s frontline combat aircraft. The event carried more than ceremonial weight — her photograph with Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh, the pilot once falsely claimed “captured” by Pakistan, sent a clear and confident message across the border.
In May, after India launched Operation Sindoor — a military strike on terror camps in Pakistan in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives — Islamabad’s media and online propaganda networks had alleged that Shivangi Singh, a Rafale pilot from Varanasi, was among those “caught” during the offensive. The claim was swiftly dismissed as fake news by Indian authorities.
On Wednesday, it was the same officer who guided the President through the Rafale aircraft at the Ambala base, symbolizing India’s strength, precision, and self-assurance.
During the event, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh also took part in a formation flight, piloting another Rafale alongside the one carrying President Murmu and Group Captain Amit Gehani.
Defence analysts say the sortie and the image of President Murmu with Shivangi Singh serve as a strong rebuttal to Pakistan’s earlier disinformation and a reminder of India’s aerial dominance following the successful strikes under Operation Sindoor.
