Delhi Heatwave Alert: IMD Predicts Temperatures to Cross 41°C

According to the latest forecast, the national capital is witnessing a steady rise in temperatures due to dry northwesterly winds and clear sky conditions. The maximum temperature on Monday is expected to remain around 40–41°C, significantly above the seasonal average, while minimum temperatures are likely to stay near 21–23°C.

Weather officials have cautioned that although a formal heatwave declaration may depend on further rise in temperatures, the current conditions already pose moderate to high health risks, especially for children, the elderly, and outdoor workers.

The IMD has advised residents to take precautions, including staying hydrated, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and wearing light, breathable clothing. Hospitals in the city have also been alerted to watch for cases of heat exhaustion and dehydration.

Meteorologists say the prevailing weather pattern shows no immediate signs of relief, as rainfall activity remains unlikely over the next few days. The heat is expected to intensify further across North India, with several regions already under heatwave alerts.

As Delhi continues to battle rising temperatures, authorities are urging citizens to remain cautious and follow safety advisories to minimize health risks during the ongoing heat spell.
