Indian Railways Announces 1,644 Apprentice Jobs for 10th Pass Youth Without Exam

India’s railway network has announced a major recruitment drive, offering fresh opportunities to young candidates through the South East Central Railway (SECR). The department has invited applications for 1,644 apprentice positions for the 2026-27 training session.

As per the recruitment notice, applicants will not have to appear for any written test or interview. The final selection will be prepared on the basis of merit, using marks obtained in Class 10 and ITI qualifications.

The vacancies are available in multiple technical trades, including electrician, fitter, welder, machinist, mechanic and stenographer. A large number of these posts are based in the Raipur Division and Wagon Repair Workshop under SECR operations.

Railway officials stated that candidates must have completed Class 10 from a recognised board with at least 50% marks. Applicants are also required to hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade. The age limit for applying is between 15 and 24 years, although reserved category candidates will receive relaxation according to government guidelines.

The online application process started on 5 May and will remain open until 4 June 2026. Interested candidates can submit their forms through the official apprenticeship website by uploading the necessary documents, including educational certificates and identity proof.

Apprenticeship programmes in Indian Railways are seen as valuable opportunities for students seeking technical skills and practical work experience. Since the recruitment process does not involve a competitive examination, such vacancies usually attract a high number of applicants from across the country.

Experts in the education and employment sector believe this recruitment drive could benefit thousands of young people looking for career opportunities after completing school and vocational training.
