PM Inaugurates Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow on Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 101st Birth Anniversary

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rashtra Prerna Sthal in the Vasant Kunj area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, today, dedicating the expansive new memorial on the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. 

The event drew a large public gathering and was attended by senior political leaders, including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, state and national dignitaries, and thousands of citizens.

A Memorial of National Inspiration

The Rashtra Prerna Sthal is a landmark national memorial and inspirational complex developed at an approximate cost of ₹230 crore, spread over 65 acres along Hardoi Road near the Gomti river embankment.

Designed to celebrate the life, ideals, and contributions of India’s visionaries, the site features:

• Three towering bronze statues, each 65 feet high, of:

  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee

  • Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee

  • Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya
    These statues symbolize their seminal roles in nation-building, public service, and political thought. 

• A state-of-the-art museum (about **98,000 sq. ft.), lotus-shaped in design, housing interactive exhibits, digital displays, galleries, and interpretation walls that narrate the contributions of these leaders. 

Facilities and Features

Beyond the statues and museum, the memorial complex includes:

• A rally ground with a capacity to host nearly 2 lakh people

• An amphitheatre

• Meditation and Vipassana-Yoga centres

• Cafeteria and visitor amenities
  These features position the site as both a tourist attraction and a center for civic and cultural learning. 

Significance of the Occasion

The date of the inauguration—December 25—is significant, marking the 101st birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, one of India’s most respected former prime ministers. In his address, the Prime Minister paid homage to Vajpayee’s legacy and leadership, emphasizing the importance of preserving national values and inspiring future generations.

While highlighting the contributions of other national figures through the memorial, PM Modi underscored the message of unity, national service, and visionary leadership embedded in the Rashtra Prerna Sthal’s mission.

Officials have described the Rashtra Prerna Sthal as a permanent national asset, aimed at fostering leadership values, promoting cultural consciousness, and encouraging public service among young Indians. 

The new memorial is expected to attract visitors from across the country, deepen historical awareness, and serve as a hub for educational and inspirational programs.
